what is more productive:
builing a dirt mound that will last thousands of years but which provide no utilitarian purpose..
or...
writing a computer program that no one will ever use and which will dissappear when the computer crashes but which you get paid for...
i guess its an existential debate...which makes you feel satisfied or important or connected?

Were you thinking of building a mound yourself, or were you referring to mounds that exist in the present-day? Because I think that those did have some sort of purpose when built - though one could debate on whether that was utilitarian...

when you see pictures of the mississippi delta during the '27 flood and the cattle that collected on top of old indian mounds, yes, they seem to serve a purpose.
i am not planning on building a mound this year.
